Caterpillar launches new generation of excavator attachments

The latest pulverizers provide shorter cycle times and highly efficient concrete breaking.

CATERPILLAR has launched a new generation of primary and secondary shredders for use on excavators ranging from 18 to 50 tons.

The new line of Cat shredders includes three rotatable primary models, the P318, P324 and P332, which can rotate 360 degrees, and three fixed secondary models, the P218, P224 and P232.

The new chopper design is based on the same reliable, industry-leading SpeedBooster technology used in Cat multiprocessors – rapid jaw closure when no load is present.

When the jaw makes contact with the material, the SpeedBooster hydraulic valve automatically switches to power mode to achieve maximum power, which in turn quickly breaks up the concrete.

Offering safe, efficient and fast removal of concrete structures, Cat primary shredders are said to balance speed and power by reducing cycle times by up to 52% and increasing force by 21% over previous models.

Bidirectional 360-degree rotation on the P300 Series models allows concrete to be grabbed at any angle and then sized for further processing. Integrated rebar knives quickly cut through pipes, rebar and other embedded materials, increasing demolition efficiency.

According to Caterpillar, secondary chippers provide up to a 44% reduction in cycle time and a 20% improvement in concrete demolition force, resulting in up to a 15% increase in recycling productivity.

Wide jaw openings on the auxiliary units allow operators to grab more material at any angle, increasing processing speed and improving overall material throughput.

Delivering the performance, reliability, durability and value expected from Cat products, both new shredder series feature bolt-on wear components that can be quickly replaced in the field without the need for hard surface welding for maintenance, optimizing equipment uptime.

All hydraulic components on the Cat attachments, which provide increased reliability and durability, are protected inside the body by a removable bolt-on panel for full service access.

The new shredders also integrate Cat Asset Tracking, which is used for activities such as quickly locating attachments and ensuring safety through VisionLink technology and Product Link remote monitoring solution for fleet management.
